Drosera graomogolensis is a carnivorous plant belonging to the Drosera genus, native to the mountainous regions of Brazil, particularly the Minas Gerais area. This plant is endemic and grows in specific habitats such as sandy soils or rocky areas rich in moisture and sunlight, typical of high-altitude areas.
Main features:
- Leaves: It has long, thin leaves covered in sticky glands (tentacles), which release a viscous liquid to trap insects. The leaves are delicately curled around their prey to aid digestion.
- Color: The leaves vary in color from light green to red, depending on the intensity of the light.
- Flowers: Produces small, delicate flowers, often pink or white, which grow on a thin stem above the foliage.
- Habitat: It is adapted to conditions of high light, constant humidity, and nutrient-poor soil. Like all carnivorous plants, it obtains nutrients primarily from its prey.
Curiosity:
- The name "graomogolensis" comes from the Grão Mogol region in Minas Gerais, where the plant was first identified.
- It is a species particularly loved by carnivorous plant enthusiasts for its exotic appearance and relative ease of cultivation compared to other Drosera species.
Characteristics
Drosera graomogolensis captures its prey using leaves covered in slimy glands (tentacles). The insects, attracted by the shiny, dew-like drops, become trapped. The plant slowly rolls its leaves to digest its prey and extract nutrients.

Drosera Graomogolensis
It requires bright but indirect light, such as filtered light. It can tolerate a few hours of direct sunlight in the morning or late afternoon, avoiding the hottest parts of the day.
It prefers a consistently moist substrate. Use only distilled, demineralized, or rainwater, avoiding prolonged stagnation and hard water.
It grows well at temperatures between 15°C and 30°C. It is important to protect it from frost, maintaining a warm and humid environment during cold periods.
Gently remove any dry leaves or digested prey remains to prevent mold and keep the plant healthy. Do not use chemicals.
