Nepenthes veitchii is a tropical carnivorous plant native to Borneo, highly prized for its robust and decorative pitchers, which are often striated and intensely colored. It is a predominantly epiphytic or lithophytic species, slow-growing but of great ornamental value, suitable for collectors and enthusiasts.

Characteristics

Bright but indirect light. It also tolerates a few hours of filtered sun, especially in the morning, which helps intensify the coloration of the pitchers. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight during the hottest hours. It is a perennial tropical plant that does not require a winter or summer rest period. Borneo

Pitcher plants contain a viscous, slippery liquid that attracts insects with nectar and bright colors. Once they fall inside, the waxy walls prevent escape and digestive enzymes slowly decompose them.

Watering

Use only demineralized, rainwater, or osmotized water. The substrate must remain constantly moist but never waterlogged. Avoid standing water in the saucer. Regular misting helps maintain high environmental humidity.

Temperature

It prefers intermediate temperatures:
• Day: 22–28 °C
• Night: 16–20 °C
It appreciates a slight nighttime drop, which is essential for healthy growth.

Cleaning

Periodically remove dried pitchers or damaged leaves with clean scissors. Clean dust off the leaves by misting them with demineralized water.
