Drosera adelae is a tropical carnivorous plant characterized by long, slender leaves covered in glandular trichomes that secrete a sticky substance to capture small insects.

This specimen was grown from seed and carefully selected for its particularly vibrant color, with shades that veer towards an intense red, making it even more ornamental and distinctive.

Characteristics

It prefers bright, indirect or filtered light, avoiding prolonged direct sunlight. It grows well during spring and summer, but requires specific care in winter. Ideal for humid terrariums or well-lit areas, with high humidity and moderate ventilation.

Drosera captures its prey using leaves covered in sticky glands (trichomes). Insects, attracted by the glittering, dew-like droplets, become trapped. The plant slowly rolls up its leaves to digest the prey and extract its nutrients.

Exposure

It requires bright but indirect light, such as filtered light. It can tolerate a few hours of direct sun in the morning or late afternoon, avoiding the hottest times of the day.
Watering

It prefers a constantly moist substrate. Use only distilled, demineralized, or rainwater, avoiding prolonged water stagnation and hard water.
Temperature

It grows well at temperatures between 18°C and 28°C. It is important to protect it from frost, keeping it in a warm and humid environment during cold periods.
Cleaning

Gently remove any dried leaves or remains of digested prey to prevent mold and keep the plant healthy. Do not use chemical products.
