Characteristics

Very bright room Spring, Summer, Autumn North America

Imagine two modified leaves, joined along a central rib, that open like the pages of a book. Inside these "pages" are very sensitive hairs, called trichomes. These hairs act as sensors and, when touched by an insect, trigger a mechanism that causes the trap to close.

Exposure

This plant requires a very bright environment all year round, seeking shade during the hottest hours of the summer months.

Watering

Keep 2/3 cm of water in the saucer at all times; it is IMPORTANT to always use distilled water.

Temperature

The Dionaea muscipula (Venus flytrap) comes from bogs located in North America, so it lives in a temperate climate with hot summers and cold winters. This plant is accustomed to living outdoors from spring until October; the Dionaea m. will grow vigorously and then slow down in winter, but don't worry, this is normal!

Cleaning

Gently remove any dead leaves or remnants of digested prey to prevent mold and keep the plant healthy.
